Do you need a passport for a plane change from denver to canada to chicago?

I am traveling from Phoenix to Chicago. But I make two plane changes on the way. One from phoenix to denver than the other from canada to chicago.

Do I need a passport for this flight change even thouigh Im not actually intended on traveling to Canada just switching planes to get to chicago?|||thats a really strange itinerary. Most of the time, the stops are in the same country.

You might not need your passport if your next plane departs from the same terminal (in canada) but if you have to switch terminals, you might need your passport to get through security.

You definately wont need your passport if you didnt have to change planes in Canada, but since you are, i think its best if you brought it just incase.|||you are traveling to a different country, so have your passport ready and even if you are traveling within the same country, you still need a passport.|||So long as you stay in the airport terminal, you should not need a passport. I bet you have to go though customs though in Chicago, since your flight is coming from Canada.|||I think the best possible answer to this is to CALL your airline and ask them. This is an unusual situation, but obviously everyone on that flight is going to have to deal with the same question, so the aorline should know.|||you always need a passport to enter or depart from different countries.|||NO you don't. Just have your ticket to Chicago and a drivers liscence or other photo I.D.|||at some point in that trip, you will have to clear customs. New rules, yes, you need a passport for travel to/from Canada.
