Could a pilot spontaneously crash a plane into another plane if he wanted to?

I am going to fly on July 7th, and I'm not worried about flying or heights or anything, but if another pilot saw our plane flying in the same area of sky as his, could he just turn his plane and crash into ours if he wanted to? :-) Thanks! And what is the chance that we will all die on our plane?|||Well, ramming has occurred both in WW1 and WW2. In both wars, crews were either mortally wounded-and knew they wouldn't make to safety or were committed to downing the enemy. Realize these were military aircraft engaged against each other.


Surviving would depend on where you were hit. A solid fuselage collision-yes you're probably history. A graze on the vertical stab or outer wings might be survivable.|||You won't be flying anywhere near another plane. It's just too dangerous! It's ok to be scared. It sounds like your first plane ride. If you're scared of heights, just go to sleep. And the chance of surviving a midair crash on your plane is little. I hope you have a fun, safe ride. =)|||That would not be possible.





Routes that airplanes fly are NEVER close to eachother and NEVER intersect. And if the pilot for some reason just decided that he was going to go off and crash his plane, the Co pilot would probably stop him, and if that failed, then they would probably shoot the plane down (to spare some lives)





In A mid-air crash, there is going to be fatalaties...the chances of survival are slim, but you don't need to worry about it because|||Actually you may fly close to other planes.





I flew this Friday from Florida and we were so close to a SWA 737 plane, i could make out the tail number.





Planes do fly close, but not close enough to cause danger.





And no, pilots are human too, they don't want to die.|||Yes, a pilot could potentially do this (though I havn't heard of anything like that ever happening). There are thousands of planes in our skies everyday, so the odds of two planes colliding mid-air are much more likely during lift-off and touchdown by accident. Don't get me wrong, there is still like a 0.0001% chance that this would happen.





If/when two planes collide, I'm pretty sure that everyone would die... Sorry to say.|||Yup|||Yes. Thats called "terrorism". And a midair collision is certain death. But, it would be really hard to purposefully ram another aircraft, unless you went unnoticed, which is impossible.|||No one wants to be buried alive either. Fortunately, neither one of these things is likely to happen.

Aircraft can be near each other, air routes intersect all over the place, and Air Route Traffic Control and Radar Approach Control cannot detect or communicate with all aircraft for separation purposes.





In a midair collision the chance of all dying is slightly less than 100%.
