How much does a small sea plane cost?

I'm interested in a small (4-seater?), used sea plane for salt water use. How much should I expect to pay for one of these. Best answer will have links and maybe even pictures to back up their response/suggestion.|||You are looking at about $100,000US for a capable four seater for salt water use. Cessna 185 can carry four people and luggage resonably. Prices will vary based on condition, age, hours, and engine/prop overhaul times.

The cheapest plane that will do the job is a Cessna 180 or a 172XP and these run in the $80,000 range, but they don't perform as good so you will have to trade passengers for fuel or baggage.

Don't waste you money on an amphibious float plane because they are more expensive and you lose one person and luggage in useful weight, (A 300HP Cessna 185 is a dog on amphibs when fully loaded).

There are cheaper planes in the two seat range:

The Aeronca or Taylorcraft are very capable two seat float planes but aren't recommended for open ocean.|||$160,000|||a lot :)
