Does it really affect the plane if i use my phone during the flight?

i have a 6 hour flight across the country and i really want to be able to text during it. does it really affect the plane if i use my phone during the flight?|||The odds are that it probably won't, but it can interfere with navigational and communication frequencies and is strictly banned. You're most likely not going to get a signal anyhow, and if you want to take the chance and possibly be detained or arrested, go ahead and try. Btw, if you do use your phone during the flight, I sincerely hope you are arrested, why even take a chance when you could possibly be endangering other people's lives?|||Are you really willing to risk it!?|||yes if bad luck then any thing can be possible .do not use|||Well, for starters you wont get reception. So dont even both.

But, to answer your question, the odds of a cell phone effecting a plane in any serious way are about one in a billion. I used to date a flight attendent and she told me the airlines know that cell phones cant effect flights at all, but they just dont want people yapping on their phones the whole time. So they actually make it seem like its a saftey issue.

Think about this, you are allowed to use your phone the instant the wheels of the plane touchdown. If it was dangerous to a plane, you really think they would let you use the plane during touchdown and taxi? Those are actually the two most dangeours points in a flight, especially as far as communications go.|||There was a time where people thought mobile phones could affect everything - planes, hospitals, heck, they even thought they could blow up a petrol/gas station!

But really, they can't. They can only affect the most sensitive of equipment when close up, but most really sensitive equipment is kept in faraday cages to eliminate interference anyway. What about all the other radio waves flying around everywhere? Natural background radiation? They have a tolerance anyway, and as said, all the instruments in the dashboard are in faraday cages to stop them from getting interference AND interfering with each other.

So mobile phones can't do anything, there's just no point in having them on because you won't get a signal anyway (unless you're on one of these trial flights with phone service, which just proves its safe if they're actually planning on providing a phone service on board). But they also just ask for you to have them off 'just in case'.

Same with wifi, bluetooth, etc. They claim that having your laptop wifi on will crash the plane, at the same time as other airlines are trialling free onboard wifi and internet. Hmmmm....

I did some work experience in a hospital and was told by the people working there that phones did nothing, but they kept the warning signs up in all the public places so it wouldn't be turned into everyone walking around shouting on their phones.

So no it won't crash the plane, however I also doubt you would get any reception and risk fines/prosecution, etc. You should be able to spend 6 hours without texting anyway.|||Why would you use the phone in the plane? You won't get any signal and it's really a risk for you and all the other people in your plane. Notice that any cellphone interferes most communication devices. Just get your cellphone close to any speaker when you're receiving a phone call or SMS or send one and you'll see what i mean.

Even making the crew lose communication for just a few seconds in the right moment could be a disaster. Just be a good girl and don't do what the crew asks you not to do when you're on board.
