What happens in the airport after you get off a plane?

I have never been on a plane, but my latest novel begins with the main character (16 years old) getting off the plane alone at LaGuardia Airport in New York.

What is the actual process between alighting the plane and her parents collecting her from the airport?|||Well since your character is 16, thenshe is considered an adult by the airlines, so she won't need any special assistance from any airline staff. The process is as follows:

1.) Walk from the jet bridge into the terminal area.

2.) Then she would read the signs above for "Baggage Claim" if she has any bags checked. If not, then she would still go to the baggage claim level as that's where passenger pick up is.

You could throw a twist in there and make the airline lose her bag and she would have to stop by the baggage claim and file a PAWOB for her missing piece of luggage.|||Most passengers stop at the rest room.

I normally wouldn;t bother to post such a triviality, but since you are writing a novel to might want to use that little bit of realism.

Suggestion, do you have a credit card with a bit of room on it???? If so by a REFUNDABLE plane ticket. It doesn't matter to where, but it should out of LGA.

You can use that ticket to show up before the flight, go through security and see everything that happens at the airport.

Then you can get a refund for the ticket. Now since most tickets are non-refundable, be careful that you buy a refundable one.|||I think "Tim The Top Contributer' has the right answer. After you get olff baggage claim you get your taxi or whatever and go.|||i would include when the plane land she turns on her phone
