How much would a plane ticket from New York to California cost?

Okay well, my bestfriend is 17 and he is going to be going to College soon in New York, and one of his close friends is going to College also but in California. I wanted to know about ways they could maybe meet up, and how much would it also cost. Like a plane ticket?

Just as Neil wrote, it can be as low as $250 from LAX to JFK to $2,000 depending on when you buy your tickets. If you buy last minute, it can cost you a lot of money.|||Depending on where in NY and where in CA, travel dates, and (most importantly) when it's booked, the cost might be as low as $250, or easily several times that.
