This is all I remember: The plane crashes into a body of water. The guy is able to get out. Later on in the movie, he decides he needs something from the plane, so he swims to plane wreck and sees the dead pilot inside.

Oh wait I just found it, its called A Cry In The Wild :)|||Ginger is right she should get best answer but just so you know the movie Hatchet is also called A Cry in the Wild http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099327/ the film usually goes by this title in the US not Hatchet.
This is important because there is another movie called Hatchet and it's great but it's nothing like what you described, it's a horror film.|||Castaway|||Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's Castaway.
